Founded by The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, the charity organization’s lofty goals are to improve the quality of life for cancer-stricken teens and young adults by creating youth-oriented centers for those receiving treatment, and provide peer support and raise awareness for a demographic that thinks it could never happen to them. Although the subject is serious and the message is uplifting, organizers smartly rounded up a fun-filled lineup headlined by drank party boy T-Pain, and “Show Me” rapper Kid Ink as well as SNDCLSH, a much buzzed about collaborative dance-rock-hip hop side project between Lupe Fiasco and Sky Gellatly.
Fist-pumpers won’t feel left out as electronic acts like Bixel Boys and Le Youth round out the party-hearty bill that also includes a side stage curated by Icon Collective, a sound production program who work with local artists. With sunny skies and warm weather set for the holiday weekend, there’s a lot worst places you could be than an oceanfront lawn enjoying good music for a great cause.
