Back in 2010, Gail Simone wrapped up her run on DC’s Amazon superheroine with Wonder Woman # 600. While Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang have a stranglehold on the Wonder Woman title in The New 52, Simone is about to make her return to the character.
DC has announced that it is launching a new Wonder Woman anthology series called Sensation Comics. As with the similarly out of continuity anthologies Legends of The Dark Knight and Adventures of Superman, Sensation Comics will be a digital first title before moving to print.
For the first Wonder Woman story, Simone will reteam with her Firestorm collaborator, Ethan Van Sciver on an adventure that finds Wonder Woman answering a call for help from Oracle (Barbara Gordon) when Batman and his supporting cast of crime fighters are unavailable to defend Gotham City.
Writer Amanda Deibert and artist Cat Staggs will handle the second Wonder Woman story of Sensation Comics # 1, which features Wonder Woman meeting her biggest fan.
The print version of Sensation Comics # 1 will hit comic stores on August 20, with a digital premiere date to be announced later.
