It’s July, which means it’s time to start yammering on about San Diego Comic-Con, the nation’s biggest comic book convention, although it hasn’t been limited to comics for many years now. However, it still makes its bones with beloved comic book characters, and every year there are new batches of exclusive trinkets, toys, doo-dads and special edition books that are only sold at SDCC… or probably some of the other events during the summer’s “convention season.” Take a look at the exclusives for this year.
What does Marvel have to offer? Take a look at some of these pics.

Then there’s IDW, bringing us a lot of interesting books.
IDW is really into fancy collector’s edition books, like Mark Schultz’ Xenozoic Tales, The Best of EC Covers Portfolio, Jack Davis EC Stories or The Best of EC Vol. 1. There’s also a celebration of Al Feldstein with Feldstein: Mad Life & Fantastic Art, as well as a “glitter variant” of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #9, and a hardcover collection of the MLP series. Also, if you’re a big fan of Locke & Key, two special pewter keys will be on sale, the Music Box key and the Shadow key.
For DC, they’re going to be unveiling a Justice League themed Kia car designed by Jim Lee (the artwork, not the actual car – don’t think Jim Lee’s a gearhead) that will be auctioned off in support of the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign to fight starvation in the horn of Africa. And that’s not all – check these out
Superman standing on a pile of skulls. Wow. Maybe not appropriate for Superman, but surely appropriate for Man of Steel, given the sheer amount of property damage. This will have its fans, certainly.
That’s just a sampling of the fun stuff you can get at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Ain’t it a hoot?
