Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Discussed NFL Retirement ‘As a Couple’ — Report

Taylor Swift was in favor of her boyfriend and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, not retiring from the NFL. The devastating defeat of the Kansas City Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles at the 2025 Super Bowl, was a “tough pill to swallow” for Kelce, as recalled by the star football player himself on a “New Heights” February episode. However, on February 27, Travis Kelce revealed that he decided not to retire yet on the ESPN show of Pat McAfee.

As reported by Page Six, a source informed them that the tight end “definitely discussed” the topic of retirement from the NFL with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. The singer-songwriter did not want to see Kelce retire yet, as disclosed by a source.

Taylor Swift has always openly showcased her heartfelt support for her boyfriend and star football player Travis Kelce both on and off the field. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the “Fortnight” singer wanted Kelce not to take retirement from the NFL yet. “She didn’t want Travis to retire,” an insider told, per Page Six. The insider further stated, “She (Taylor Swift) wanted him to go out on a high note.”

The news outlet also reported that although the singer-songwriter’s opinion on the all-important matter of retirement was definitely considered, however, the final big decision was taken by Kelce himself. The source also said, “He has to be able to physically do it,” referring to the athlete’s confidence about his body being able to play a full season once again.

Previously, in an episode of his podcast, “New Heights,” Travis Kelce opened up about Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl 2025 heartbreaking loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. He said, “Just wasn’t our day.” The football player continued, “Couldn’t find a lick of momentum.” “I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field,” Kelce added.
