Kanye West Wants Drake to Speak at His Funeral

Kanye West (who goes by Ye now) and Drake have gone through decades of artistic appreciation for each other and occasional feuds. The final season of beef between the two might come to an end in 2025. The “Power” rapper recently opened up about his high opinion of Drake on X (formerly Twitter).

Kanye West posts about Drake and the jealously

Kanye West went on an X posting spree and included his thoughts about Drake. He acknowledged that “jealousy” overtook him before. However, he can now appreciate Drake’s artistry. Ye posted (and later deleted) on X, “I love Drake. I’ma say this when I die, I need you to speak at me [sic] funeral.”

He also mentioned watching a video of Drake. The “Lift Off” singer gushed in all caps, “I saw a video of Drake walking through his house and showing he had a library of rhyme books. Man, I wish I could have seen and remembered this when my jealousy overtook me.”

Drake and Ye’s connection goes back to the early days of the “Donda” crooner’s career. The Canadian artist showed appreciation for Ye in a 2009 MTV interview. The “Thank Me Later” maker said, “Before I ever got the chance to meet him, Kanye West shaped a lot of what I do, as far as music goes. We always, always, always took the time to listen to Kanye’s music and appreciate it beyond.

We searched the samples and we find out where his inspiration came from, because he has one of the best ears in music, period. He knows how to recognize great music that’s not his. He knows how to utilize great sounds and great music.”

Ye turned the favor by praising Drake’s bars on Young Money’s “Every Girl.” The 47-year-old artist posted on Kanye Universecity blog: “Drake said, ‘Do you like girls like I do?? Les-bi-honest!!!!!’ Best line of the year so far!”

After decades of mutual appreciation, the duo’s feud became increasingly inevitable in the recent few years. Drake took a dig at Ye at “Red Button,” rapping, “Every time you need me for a boost, I never hesitated/ Every time that Yeezy called a truce, he had my head inflated/ Thinkin’ we gon’ finally peace it up and get to levitatin’/ Realize that everything premeditated.”

Ye got back at Drizzy in 2024 on the remix to Future and Metro Boomin’s Kendrick Lamar-assisted Drake diss number “Like That” on April 20. The song, available on Ye’s website, allegedly references Drake’s licensing deal with Lucian Grainge’s Universal Music Group.
