Taylor Swift & Blake Lively’s Friendship Rocky After SNL 50 — Report

Blake Lively’s highly publicized legal battle with Justin Baldoni seemingly tested her decade-long friendship with Taylor Swift, with the most recent report involving SNL 50. Insiders told the Daily Mail that Swift was a no-show at the half-century anniversary celebration of the sketch comedy show on Sunday in New York because of Lively, who was in attendance with her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

Several sources previously claimed that the duo’s friendship took a rocky turn after Swift took a “step back,” causing a fallout as they failed to come to terms afterward. This occurred after Baldoni, responding to Lively’s sexual harassment allegations, filed a lawsuit against her and Reynolds while also involving Swift in his filing. Earlier this month, more questions surfaced after the “Gossip Girl” star was notably absent from the Super Bowl.

Taylor Swift declined SNL 50 invite because of Blake Lively

The Daily Mail reported that insiders exclusively told them about Taylor Swift declining the SNL 50 invitation, refusing to attend because of her rocky friendship with Blake Lively. The sources also revealed that Swift stopped communicating with Lively, taking a “step back” amid the Justin Baldoni legal drama. The insider claimed that “Taylor is not communicating with Blake” and later cited her and Kim Kardashian’s presence to justify the singer’s absence.

Not long ago, the Grammy winner was hauled into Lively’s legal drama with her “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni. Reportedly, Baldoni responded to her sexual harassment allegations with a countersuit in which he mentioned Swift, accusing her of intimidation. Another insider told the outlet, “Taylor is taking stock of which of her friends are good for her and who name drops her for personal gain after Blake-gate.” The person further mentioned that the singer has a “new album in the works” and her unwillingness to “let external factors hurt her career.”

Before the controversy surfaced and the recent SNL 50 scandal, Taylor Swift and Blake Lively had shared a close friendship for a decade. The duo even had frequent outings, including multiple date nights with Travis Kelce and Ryan Reynolds. In February 2024, they made a noteworthy appearance at the Super Bowl, showing their joint support for Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Swift attending this year’s event without Lively further fueled the drama and raised more questions.
