As the community in Los Angeles unites to battle raging fires, Lizzo and her shapewear brand stepped up to join the relief efforts. In a new Instagram post, the singer shared a joint announcement with Yitty about donating “new underwear, bra, and other essential clothing’ to the victims of these LA wildfires.” The brand also announced it is contributing funds to support local relief organizations that are actively assisting those in immediate need.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has been sharing constant updates about the fires in LA. The wildfires that erupted on January 7 have now burned more than 40,000 acres, with the Palisades fire being depicted as the deadliest.
Lizzo’s brand, Yitty, is working towards relief efforts in LA
Joining the long list of those contributing to the LA fire relief efforts, Lizzo’s brand, Yitty, dropped an impactful message to the victims. The announcement revealed that the shapewear brand has started “actively working” to assist the communities in need. Elaborating, the statement mentioned that Yitty is supporting “local organizations and individuals by donating new underwear, bras, and other essential clothing to those in need.”
The post further highlighted Lizzo and her brand’s other efforts, such as donating funds to local organizations. These organizations will then use the funds to “assist with both immediate and long-term recovery efforts.” It also listed down a couple of “incredible organizations” that are providing victims of these deadly LA wildfires with essential supplies. The list includes Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery, WalkGood LA, The Plus Bus Boutique, and The Dream Center.
In the message to the residents of LA, Lizzo and her brand wrote, “Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the devastating fires.” Yitty announced it grieved for the losses their community has endured in these last couple of days and thanked the firefighters, first responders, and Angelenos for stepping up. “We are endlessly grateful for your courage and resilience,” it read.
Lastly, the announcement assured that while this may be the beginning, they remain “dedicated to standing with our community.” They reassured the people about “providing support—not just now, but for as long as it takes to rebuild” their city and “recover” from the losses.
Several other celebrities have joined the relief efforts while many others share updates about their well-being as the LA fires continue to burn.
