The singer responded to the situation by drawing on her experience from when the Woolsey fires left her Malibu home in ruins. She penned an emotional note on Instagram to the victims of the ongoing fires while recalling the tragic moment of witnessing her beloved home reduced to ashes. The photo in the post stood as proof of the extent of the destruction. It showed a ruined portion of her house with four letter-shaped cushions that spelled “LOVE.”
Cyrus revealed that the photo was of her house’s front porch which was impacted by the Woolsey fires in 2018. She confessed that it was a feeling she couldn’t forget. The singer continued, “Walking up to the door you would pass through daily, looking forward to being greeted by the ones you love like you always do but instead being met by a pile of ash and rubble.”
Referring to the devastating LA fires, Miley Cyrus expressed that her “soul aches” for the victims. She further admitted, “I cry for my city.” The singer compared Los Angeles to how it represented “living the dream” but now stood for “wreckage and destruction.” Although Cyrus is devastated witnessing the disaster, she expressed her support for the LA fire victims. In 2018, the Woolsey Fires reportedly engulfed neighborhoods in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. It reportedly scorched more than 96,000 acres of land and killed three people. However, the ongoing LA fires are causing damage on a much larger scale. According to CNN, at least 24 people have died and more than 12,000 structures have been destroyed.
