After making about $US 750m – or about 13 times its budget – around the world, and becoming an instant classic with audience and critics alike, it’s been confirmed that a sequel to Deadpool will be made.
The entire team that made the first one such a roaring success – from producer and star Ryan Reynolds, to director Tim Miller, to writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and the rest of the crack creative unit – will return to craft the eagerly-anticipated second film.
This news, as reported by The Wrap, was confirmed by Fox’s co-CEOs Stacey Snider and Jim Gianopulos at CinemaCon 2016.
Avid fans might recall that in a post-credit scene, Deadpool discusses a sequel featuring Cable, an erstwhile colleague of the Merc with a Mouth. Well, that seems to be basically all-but-confirmed, with Reese and Wernick discussing the idea at a media event, according to HitFlix.
