Crave is excited to premiere Not LDN, the brand-new EP by DJ and producer Sam Cooper, better known as New Mantra. Having worked with chart-toppers from Lana Del Rey to Foals and Jay-Z together, the last year has seen skyrocketing exposure for the Southampton spinner, whose compositions are enchantingly atmospheric soundscapes fused with a samples from Kendrick Lamar, How to Dress Well and All Saints and beyond.
A meticulously crafted composition due for release on April 6 (pre-order), the tracks on Not LDN are built around sparse beat patterns and warm synths, with R&B falsetto vocals peppered throughout – the perfect soundtrack to an all-nighter. The four-track EP includes a network of collaborators, and while each track stands uniquely on its own, when combined together the four tracks flow in one complete movement, a romantically poignant immersion into an ethereal dream. The release follows his 2014 EP The Living Image of Aten, which you can download for free.
“I’ve been working on this EP for a year and half,” Sam tells Crave of the release. “I think I have listened to it every day in that time and have drove myself crazy obsessing over it. Always wanting to change one drum or maybe the volume of a hi hat or something. I always obsess over my songs but showing these songs to people and hearing what they have had to say has made me so excited to release these songs and show them to the world. “
