A new virtual reality desktop app has offered a glimpse of our 360-degree virtual future, highlighting how users can navigate their desktops using the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
A trailer advertising the new app highlights how users can successfully utilize various games and programs on Windows 10 using the technology, along with browsing the web and choosing from a variety of backgrounds and other such features introduced by software creators. With it set to be released on March 28th via Steam, it might not offer the augmented reality desktop experience provided by the likes of Microsoft’s HoloLens, but it certainly looks to be a great method of browsing your desktop using VR.
Take a look at the trailer below:
The Virtual Desktop app will allow users to view/stream YouTube 360 videos, browse and view 360-degree photos and also boasts 3D Side-By-Side video support. Users can launch games using voice commands, utilize the app as a multi-monitor setup and edit the background “environment” surrounding them to create their own custom images.
