Kanye West is allegedly seeking legal action against The Pirate Bay, after various torrents of the rapper’s latest album The Life of Pablo were uploaded to the file-sharing site.

The Life of Pablo has been the subject of a great deal of piracy since being posted to Tidal, with Kanye’s decision to make his latest LP exclusive to the divisive streaming platform leading to a greater demand for pirated copies of the album. There are currently several different copies of the album made available to illegally download on The Pirate Bay, which has allegedly led Kanye to weigh up his legal options.

According to HollywoodLife, a source said: “Kanye is going to meet with his legal team to discuss the possibilities of starting legal action against torrent site Pirate Bay. He’s going to talk to his lawyers and see where he stands, and hopefully Tidal will partner up with him in any legal proceedings because it was supposed to be an exclusive release.”

‘The Life of Pablo’ torrents that have allegedly raised Kanye’s ire.

Torrent Freak spoke to Pirate Bay staff member Spud17 regarding the claims, who had some less than kind words for the rapper. He said: “Kanye West is a blithering twat who has an incredible sense of self-importance. Even diehard fans are saying his new album sucks balls, but as for Mr. West suing TPB, good luck Kanye! Our legal department will be waiting.”

While we’d take the claims of HollywoodLife’s “source” with a pinch of salt, considering Kanye’s recent behavior it’s certainly not out of the realms of possibility that he’d be looking to smack The Pirate Bay with a lawsuit. Maybe he was trying to hit Mark Zuckerberg up for cash in order to cover his legal fees?
