A wonderful explosion of prints and patterns merchandised in the most stylish way is one way to describe the Autumn/Winter 2016 collection that creative director Massimiliano Giornetti sent down the runway for Salvatore Ferragamo. Things you never knew could accompany one another and look amazing seemed to be the theme of the show. A real feast for the eyes, this collection was the epitome of controlled chaos.

Busy abstract patterned sweaters were paired with a plaid suit and a softly colored, tailored coat. Maybe it’s not one of those looks you would think of pulling together yourself but now that you have Giornetti’s ideas as a reference, hopefully you’ll experiment a little more. Although the collection was very exciting to look at, only time will tell if the Ferragamo customer will rally behind the designs.

In addition to the seemingly disorderly looks in the collection, one simply cannot overlook the show-stealing outerwear. From bright wool top coats to a herringbone duffle coat with big plaid patches, these coats were created to make a statement. Then there was the leather, suede and shearling flight jacket that was not only tailored to perfection, but also provided a new take on a classic silhouette.

This collection may not be one that you’ve come to expect from the luxury fashion house founded in 1927, but it’s clearly time to shake things up a bit. Side note: if you didn’t already know, Giornetti has proven that it’s o.k. to standout… to clash even. Just wear it with confidence and conviction.
