At the end of the miniseries, 24: Live Another Day, Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer didn’t exactly get a happy ending. Instead, he turned himself over to his Russian adversaries to save his friend and he resigned himself to imprisonment or worse. Several 24 fans seemed to think that Jack Bauer’s dire fate would be resolved in a future 24 project. But according to Sutherland, that’s no longer the case.
While speaking with the BBC, Sutherland said “24 is definitely over now for me…It’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever been given as an actor, but it’s moving on without me, I want to do other things.”
Sutherland is referring to the announcement last summer that a 24 spinoff is in the works at Fox without Jack Bauer as the main character. Nor were there any firm plans to include Bauer at all. Instead, the focus of the proposed 24 spinoff miniseries will center on a seasoned female agent and a younger male operative.

“I want to do more television,” added Sutherland. “My experience of 24 was unbelievable, but the main benefit was that it was nice to do something that people actually watched, and that they enjoyed.”
Sutherland starred on 24 for eight seasons and a TV movie, before reprising his iconic role in the 24: Live Another Day miniseries last year.
