EMI, ‘Eye of the Tiger’ Writers to Sue Gay-Hate Martyr Kim Davis For ‘Unauthorized Public Performance’

Kim Davis — the Kentucky county clerk jailed for six days after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples — was released Tuesday to maniacal fanfare from legions of pasty, deluded troglodytes as Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” blared from speakers.

The scene was a cross between Gummo and Idiocracy, as the martyr for hateful ignorance took the stage, post-release, aside her Farmer John husband and the melting sack of evangelical stupidity that is Mike Huckabee, to the song Rocky III made famous. Unfortunately, nobody secured the rights to “Eye of the Tiger” before blaring it to the enraptured audience that greeted her jailhouse exit, and both the song’s creators and hosting record label EMI are planning action.

Survivor band member Frankie Sullivan, the producer and co-writer of the legendary 80s anthem, is furious that Davis used the song as entrance music for the prison-release rally outside of Kentucky’s Carter County Detention Center.

“NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use” the song, Sullivan said on Facebook. “I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that … See Ya really SoooooooonnnnnnN!!!!!!”

“I was gobsmacked,” co-writer Jim Peterik told CNN on Wednesday. “This really isn’t a song that was meant to be a political statement — probably the No. 1 motivational song ever written,” he said. “This is not about taking political sides; certainly we’re very very surprised about it.”

What action will be taken remains to be seen.

Davis, the born-again, thrice-divorced civil servant quickly became a media magnet and anti-gay political martyr, all by doing absolutely nothing – in other words, she refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, despite a federal order, which is in direct violation of her elected office. Despite her claims, Davis wasn’t at all arrested for “living according to her faith”—she was arrested for not doing her job as a public servant.

According to AP, U.S. District Judge David Bunning, who gave Kim her Go Directly To Jail card, ordered her immediate release after five out of six of her deputies began issuing marriage licenses to all couples while she’s been in jail. She has agreed to take her name off of marriage licenses and let her deputies continue to issue them.

The judge’s order, filed Tuesday in U.S. District, says Davis shall not interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples.

Davis had refused to grant licenses to any couples, gay or straight, since shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court effectively legalized gay marriage.

Bunning’s order says that if Davis should interfere in any way with her clerks issuing the licenses, “that will be considered a violation of this order and appropriate sanctions will be considered a violation of this Order and appropriate sanctions will be considered.”

Just sayin..
