The Melbourne International Film Festival has announced its full 2015 program, and it’s the largest program the festival has ever seen, including 370 films, 17 program strands, 28 world premieres, 163 Australian premieres, 23 Talking Pictures events, over 29 international guests and over 100 local guests.
Highlights of the program, which can be viewed in full at the Melbourne International Film Festival website, include Ethan Hawke’s music documentary about pianist Seymour Bernstein, Seymour: An Introduction; Kirby Dick’s investigative documentary about US college campus rapes, The Hunting Ground; and the Australian premiere of Force Of Destiny, which was filmed in Melbourne and India and directed by Australia’s Paul Cox.
The festival will also see the Australia premiere of Let’s Dance: Bowie Down Under – a film about David Bowie’s biggest hit record and his fascination with Australia via footage of the making of the video for “Let’s Dance” in various locations across Australia, from the remote outpost of Carinda to Sydney’s Parramatta Road.
Elsewhere, the festival’s music-focused program will feature Colin Hay: Waiting For My Real Life, Mavis! and Mr Dynamite: The Rise Of James Brown, while International Panorama highlights include the Kristen Wiig and Alexander Skarsgard-starring flick The Diary Of A Teenage Girl.
