Arrested Development Season 5 Confirmed For 2016

The long-rumored Arrested Development movie may never happen. But Arrested Development is far from over.

While taping an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show podcast (via The Wrap), Arrested Development producer Brian Grazer confirmed that a fifth season will be filmed next year for Netflix.

“Netflix is determined to do more episodes,” explained Grazer, “So we’re going to do more episodes.”

One of the challenges of bringing Arrested Development back in 2013 was the availability of the former cast members of the show. Since the series was canceled by Fox in 2006, the cast has been heavily in demand for other projects.

However, Grazer confirmed that the main cast will all be back for the new season, including Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jessica Walter.

According to Grazer, the plan is to begin filming new episodes of Arrested Development in January 2016, with a Netflix premiere slated for April. Arrested Development Season 5 will reportedly be 17 episodes.
