Iggy Azalea Cancels Entire Stadium Tour

After already being delayed earlier this year due to “production delays”, Iggy Azalea‘s entire US stadium Great Escape Tour has now been cancelled.

Reports the New York Times, on Friday ticket holders received an email announcing the cancellation. “The Iggy Azalea Great Escape Tour scheduled for this fall has been cancelled and refunds are available at point of purchase,” read the email.

“There will be a new tour planned around Iggy‘s new record to be released in 2016 and we apologize for any inconvenience.” No further explanation of the tour’s cancellation was provided.

“As u may know, the tour is cancelled. I’m so sad and sorry to let my fans down…we’ll be back out on the road when the next album is done,” tweeted Azalea today. She also noted the cancellations don’y include her festival sets at Pittsburgh Pride, Ottawa Bluesfest, Québec Summer Festival or the Washington State Fair.

The Great Escape Tour was scheduled to start on September 18th in San Diego, after being pushed back earlier in the year due to what a statement described as “production delays”. The tour was supposed to stop at arenas like Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and LA’s Staples Center, venue which, as Spin points out, are a far cry from the more modest 1000-person capacity venues she’s played in recent months.

Controversy has frequently followed the Australian rapper. Most recently a change.org petition with over 20,000 signature has begun to gain traction, claiming Azalea’s Best Rap Song award at last week’s 2015 Billboard Music Awards was given under dubious circumstances and should be taken back.
