Van Persie Will Return for the Manchester Derby

Robin van Persie will return to action for Manchester United ahead of the club’s crucial match against fierce rivals Manchester City.

Van Persie has stated that he is fit for the Manchester derby on Sunday after being out for seven weeks, with him now having recovered from damaging his ankle ligaments during Man U’s victory against Swansea on February 21st.

After joining the rest of the squad for a training session ahead of the big game, Van Persie tweeted:  “Back to training with the group today. Was a great session. Happy to be fit and able to play again. Looking forward to my next game!”

With Manchester City sitting just one point behind third place United in the Premier League table, the club will be looking to best their rivals and move into the top three. The fight between Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City for second, third and fourth place in the table is a close one, with Arsenal only a single point ahead of Man U, with 63 points to their name this season.

Van Persie has been having difficulties at United since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Unfortunately for the Manchester clubs, Arsenal has got a particularly easy tie-up against Burnley on Saturday, meaning that they will likely gain some distance ahead of their rivals. However, if they somehow fail to fend off Burnley, either Manchester United or City could theoretically make their way to second place, behind league leaders Chelsea.

Whatever the outcome, the Manchester derby is set to be an intense match-up, as always.
