[Editor’s Note: Happy April Fool’s Day, everybody!]
John Kricfalusi, better known as John K., the original creator of the cult animated series The Ren & Stimpy Show, has announced on his website that he has signed a deal with Paramount to bring Ren and Stimpy to the big screen in the form of an epic feature film.
John K. announced that the film would be at least “2 to 2 1/2 hours” in length, and will feature “absolutely no CGI.” John K. has been famously critical of modern animation techniques, preferring to take his creative and technical cues from animators of the 1940s and ’50s like Chuck Jones and especially Bob Clampett. John K., who famously had The Ren & Stimpy Show taken out of his control back in the 1990s, feels that it’s time to let bygones be bygones, and allow Paramount another crack at his work.

John K. also announced a few hints of the film’s story. It will evidently be an epic quest that will involve “going to the future, living as hobos, stealing a truck full of panties, and blowing up a large portion of Canada.” John K. also said that there’s a very good chance that the film will be rated R, “but still good for kids.”
Because John K. is a notoriously slow worker (which was one of the reasons he was kicked off of The Ren & Stimpy Show back in the day), a release date has not yet been set. John K. was coy. “I say optimistically it’ll be out in 2018. Or 2019. Or 2022.”
