In the two part eighth season finale of Doctor Who, Michelle Gomez’s Missy aka Mistress (formerly known as The Master) made life difficult for the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara (Jenna Coleman). But the apparent death of Missy won’t be the end of their problems.
BBC has announced that Gomez will once again reprise her role as Missy in the two part ninth season premiere of Doctor Who. In a statement, Gomez said “Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I’m positively dying to see The Doctor again!”
Doctor Who showrunner and executive producer Steven Moffat said “Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect.”

Moffat will write the two part episode, which will be called “The Magician’s Apprentice” and “The Witch’s Familiar.” Additionally, Jemma Redgrave will return to her role as Kate Stewart, the head of UNIT for the two parter alongside guest stars Kelly Hunter, Clare Higgins and Jaye Griffiths.
Production for Doctor Who Season 9 is expected to begin soon, with a premiere planned for later in 2015.
