Falls Festival has countered the disappointing cancellation of Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp & Robyn by adding a whopping seven rising Australian acts to the lineup.
Three triple j Unearthered contestants have joined the Falls lineup- Melbourne electronic duo GL will feature at the festival’s stop in Lorne, while psych-rock outfit Violet Swells will head to Marion Bay and surf-pop duo Hockey Dad have been added to the Byron Bay leg.
The festival’s ‘Foster A Band’ competition has also provided another four acts to the 2014-15 lineup, featuring progressive rockers Dark Matter of Story Telling, indie group Ursine, rock number Verticoli and 2012 Foster A Band winner Luca Brasi, a punk rock four-piece coming off recent tours with Violent Soho and The Smith Street Band.
The new additions join Falls Festival’s stellar lineup of Alt-J, Cloud Control, Cold War Kids, Glass Animals, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, Milky Chance, The Temper Trap, Vance Joy and many more.
Röyksopp & Robyn announced their cancellation of dates in Australia and Japan on Monday following collaborator Robyn’s decision to bail on the joint tour due to “a personal family matter”.
