Bob Geldof and Midge Ure have revealed that Band Aid 30 is going ahead, with the likes of One Direction, Adele and Bono already signed up to take part in the charity re-recording of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’
Geldof revealed that all proceeds from the track will go towards efforts to prevent the spread of Ebola in West Africa, with the lyrics of the song being altered accordingly to no longer focus upon famine – though the single’s famous “feed the world” refrain will remain intact.

The recording of the single will take place on November 15th, with the likes of Sam Smith, Emeli Sande, Sinead O’Connor, Fuse ODG, Paloma Faith, Olly Murs and Ellie Goulding also among the list of acts confirmed to offer their contributions.
Geldof stated that he has written to David Bowie to ask him to introduce the track in its video, as he did in the original Band Aid track in 1984. He also stated that he wants the talent show The Voice to rearrange their schedule so Rita Ora can make an appearance.
Speaking of his reasons behind organising Band Aid 30, Geldof said: “There was quite a lot of pressure on me and Midge to do it.
“Three weeks ago, I received a call from the UN, stating that they needed 20% more across the board, [in terms of] resources and personnel. It has nothing to do with nostalgia.”
We just hope that it’s better than the cringe-inducing shitfest that was Band Aid 20:
