The ‘Rush Hour’ TV Series Parks At CBS

Earlier this week, word broke that a “Rush Hour” TV series was in the works. Three days later, it already has a home on a broadcast network.

Deadline is reporting that CBS has given the proposed “Rush Hour” television show a pilot production commitment. This is CBS’ second aggressive move of the TV development season. A few weeks ago, CBS also gave “Supergirl” a series commitment.

The “Rush Hour” TV series will retain the premise of the first Rush Hour film, in which a Hong Kong police detective (played by Jackie Chan in the original Rush Hour trilogy) came to America to solve a personal case alongside an arrogant Los Angeles police detective (played by Chris Tucker in the films) who had no desire for a partner before they eventually formed a working relationship with each other.

Rush Hour director Brett Ratner is executive producing the “Rush Hour” TV series alongside Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick. For now, this probably means that Rush Hour 4 won’t happen as a feature film.

However, Beverly Hills Cop 4 got a jumpstart when CBS passed on the “Beverly Hills Cop” TV series last spring. So, there could still be another film sequel if CBS doesn’t order “Rush Hour” to series and Tucker and Chan agree to return for the fourth time.

Stranger things have happened.
