There Will Be Almost 700 Games Compatible with PlayStation TV When It Launches in October

PlayStation TV has been an understandably hot topic since it was first announced for Japan under the name PlayStation Vita TV. I’ve been eyeing the product ever since, hoping for a way to play standout Vita games like Persona 4 Golden and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward on the big screen. PS TV is finally hitting North America next month, and Sony has revealed the official game compatibility list as a result. The short of it? Almost 700 games will be available.

The info comes via a post to the PlayStation Blog, where a list of notable titles has been published. You can check it out below.

PS TV has a large and diverse lineup of games for players of all types, including:

  • Rayman Origins
  • Persona 4 Golden
  • God of War Collection
  • Killzone: Mercenary
  • FINAL FANTASY X / X-2 HD Remaster
  • Dragon’s Crown
  • Spelunky
  • FINAL FANTASY TACTICS: WAR OF THE LIONS
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Patapon
  • Twisted Metal
  • Borderlands 2
  • Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom

The above is just a sampling, and the full list can be found on Sony’s support site here. From what I can tell, both games on my wishlist are compatible — now I just need to pre-order this thing. In fact, I may even sell my Vita to pay for it.

There are other benefits to PS TV aside from playing Vita games, including access to PS Now as well as the ability to stream games from a PS4 connected in another the other room. PS Now’s viability (and affordability) has yet to be proven, but down the road it could make PS TV’s $99 price tag a far bigger steal that it initially seems.

You can check out the blog post for info on bundles and the like, or just head to Amazon to learn for yourself. PS TV launches on October 14th — you have three weeks.
