These things happen, unfortunate as they may be.
Yet, when one hears of this sort of thing happening to an electronics and software giant, it’s a little disheartening when one thinks of what’s happening to the industry as a whole. If you think about it, there are really only two champs, Apple and Microsoft. When one is adversely affected it doesn’t say positive things about the state of the PC industry. America’s economy thrives on competition, and with one top dog being affected, everyone becomes affected.
The sad part about this for gamers is that the Xbox division will indeed feel the sting of layoffs. How this will change anything in the game industry, we’re not sure yet, but it doesn’t bode well.
One can hope that it’s for the best, but for those losing their jobs, they’re likely not seeing it that way.
