Earlier this year, Denis Leary signed a development deal for a comedy series at FX. Today, FX made it official and welcomed Leary back to the network.
Leary’s new comedy, “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll” has been given a ten episode first season order from FX. Leary has previously co-created and starred in “Rescue Me” for seven seasons on FX.
In “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll,” Leary will play Johnny Rock, the aging lead singer for an early ‘90s band called The Heathens as he tries to reunite his former bandmates and recapture the glory of his younger years while attempting to rebuild his life.

The series will also star John Corbett, Elizabeth Gillies, Bobby Kelly and Elaine Hendrix. “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll” will reportedly feature original music and guest appearances by real rock stars.
In a statement, Fox TV Studios President David Madden said “Our partnership with Denis and Apostle has been one of our most fruitful ventures, and this time out fans will definitely see a different Denis. As both actor and writer, Denis plunges into dazzlingly original arenas of dark comedy and, along with a stellar veteran cast, the results are just really funny.”
“Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll” will be filmed in New York and it is expected to premiere on FX in 2015.
