You know how it is, you go out to have a nice dinner in one the most renowned Greek restaurants in Melbourne, you’re happily feasting on the best souvlaki this side of Lonsdale Street, and the kind of battle not seen since the last installment of The Lord of the Rings” trilogy ensues.
This video of this fight that broke out at Stalactites in Melbourne’s Lonsdale Street’s Greek district is currently doing the viral rounds courtesy of YouTube user Abdul Afyouni. However, Afyouni offers little context for the brawl, describing it only as, “People fighting at a Greek restaurant over a table.”
The restaurant itself claims that the footage is from over five years ago and “all the people involved were dealt with by the police and media at the time”.
Though demand for tables is high at this particular establishment, it hardly warrants the level of destruction wreaked in the clip. The video’s best moments come when patrons seated behind the carnage immediately whip out their phones and begin recording, and a cheeky lass who asks if this means she can get a refund on her souvlaki.
Warning: this one isn’t pretty.
