A teenager lost his little finger at a rave in Croyden, London, but despite this he continued to dance because, in his words, he was “going to skank until I can’t skank any more”.
16-year-old “Josh” (his actual identity hasn’t been revealed) severed his finger after trying to pull a fire alarm from the wall. Speaking to Vice, Josh said of the incident: “I jumped up, grabbed it and my little finger got caught in the case because it was all broken, and as I came to rip it back down, my little finger got ripped off completely.”
Far from being deterred from enjoying his evening due to the dramatic incident, Josh instead created a makeshift bandage with his t-shirt and carried on enjoying himself at the rave, which took place at a disused Royal Mail sorting office. Speaking of his decision to carry on despite his gruesome wound, Josh said: “My mentality was, ‘I’ve only been here for an hour, I’ve paid £10 for this night, I’ve lost my little finger – am I seriously going to go? Nah, I’m going to skank until I can’t skank any more.'”
Josh wasn’t the only casualty at the rave, with many illnesses and injuries being reported as police struggled to contain the event. One such casualty was 15-year-old Rio Andrew, who tragically died at the rave from what police suspect to be a drug overdose. Referencing the news of Andrew’s death, Josh said: “I’ve lost one little finger, while a 15-year-old boy has lost his life. What am I complaining about? My heart goes out to his friends and family. It’s heartbreaking.”
