NBC’s pickup of “Constantine” marked a very successful pilot season for DC Comics inspired shows. But according to NBC’s newly released fall premiere dates, fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer to see John Constantine on TV.
“Constantine” has been given a debut date on Friday, October 24 at 10pm, following the fourth season premiere of “Grimm.” “Constantine” is based upon the character John Constantine, who was created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and Jamie Delano as a London-based working class magician, a con man and an occult investigator, Constantine headlined his own comic book series, Hellblazer; which ran for 300 issues before DC’s recent New 52 reboot.
Matt Ryan stars as John Constantine, a role previously played by Keanu Reeves in the 2005 Constantine film. Former “Lost” co-star Harold Perrineau is also featured in “Constantine” as Manny, an enigmatic angel alongside Lucy Griffiths as Liv Aberdine, a woman who develops the ability to see the supernatural and Charles Halford as Chas Chandler, Constantine’s sidekick.
The “Constantine” pilot was developed by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Daniel Cerone (“Dexter”), with Neil Marshall (“Game of Thrones”) as the director of the first episode.
