Google is Building 180 Satellites to Improve Internet Access Worldwide

Google is currently building 180 satellites in order to improve global Internet access, it has been revealed.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the company is spending over $1 billion on “small, high capacity” satellites that will bring Internet access to unwired regions of the world.

Though WSJ did not reveal specifics regarding the satellites, it claims that Google will possibly double the amount it releases into the Earth’s atmosphere if everything goes to plan. A spokeswoman for the company didn’t comment on the report, but noted that having Internet access “significantly improves people’s lives.”

Google is said to be planning on the increased advertising revenue that will come with heightened Internet access footing the huge bill for the cost of the satellites.
