Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is set to perform his first ever solo shows at this year’s Reading & Leeds Festivals.
The singer joins the bill on the NME/Radio 1 Stage after recently confirming that he is close to finishing his debut solo album, after being signed by Warner Bros. Records. Along with Way, the new acts confirmed to play the stage include Maverick Sabre, Schoolboy Q, La Dispute and DZ Deathrays. Previously announced acts for the NME/Radio 1 Stage include Bombay Bicycle Club, CHVRCHES and Metronomy.
The joint festivals will this year be headlined by Arctic Monkeys, Blink-182, Paramore and Queens of the Stone Age, with the latter two acts confirming that Reading & Leeds will be the only UK shows they will perform this year. They will also both be sharing their slots at the festivals.
Gerard Way has been working on his debut solo LP since My Chemical Romance split in March 2013. You can view the new poster containing the list of announced acts thus far below.
