“True Detective” wrapped up its first season last Sunday and brought the story of Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson) to a conclusion. Although a second season for “True Detective” is all but official, neither McConaughey or Harrelson will be back for another season.
However, “True Detective” fans will be able to catch the series on DVD and Blu-ray in just a few months. And as a teaser to that release, HBO has debuted a deleted scene that focuses on Rust’s doomed relationship with Lori (Elizabeth Reaser).
During the season, Lori only appeared in a single episode… and even then only in two scenes! Although Rust had previously mentioned that he almost got married again earlier in the season. In Lori’s one and only scene with dialogue, she impressed Marty and his wife Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) by demonstrating how she dealt with Rust by denying him the small conflicts that drive him.
But this is not a small conflict. This scene depicts the argument that finally drove Rust and Lori apart. And if you’ve been listening to Rust since the start of the series, his reasoning isn’t that surprising.
Sorry folks. HBO has pulled the video from across the web. But for more on the show (including reviews of all eight episodes), be sure to check out our “True Detective” hub!
“True Detective” Season 1 will hit DVD and Blu-ray on June 10.
