They’re the ultimate boy’s toys — sleek, fast, sailing sloops that stretch 140 feet, and come with a rock-climbing mast attachment, as well as an open-air cinema.
Sarissa is just one of the one-hundred super yachts and fast sailing boats to make the cut for this year’s E100. Edmiston, known for its expertise in everything from chartering to marketing, buying, selling and even managing new builds, just released its annual list of the finest boats available to hire this year.
What about the recession, you ask? The industry did see a drop over the last five years, but Edmiston claims chartering requests are now on the rise. Boats on the E100 range in price from under €50,000 per week to €900, 00 per week.
So what does the top end get you? The appropriately named, Nirvana. It’s 89m/290ft long, with a swimming platform descending into a saltwater pool. The pool’s floor converts into a dance floor in the evenings, and for more quiet nights, there’s a 3D cinema. Apparently, there’s also an exotic reptile house, which seems a bit quirky, but it’s clearly not a turn-off as Nirvana commands nearly a million Euros per week.
The Suri comes equipped with a submarine, helicopter and scuba school, while The Lady Britt comes has an on-board with a Finnish sauna and 20-piece aqua park DB9 is more like a mini-cruise ship with a piano lounge and three swimming pools. Others boast driving ranges, water trampolines, on-board concierges, and chefs who churn out 30-different flavors of homemade ice cream.
Interiors range from traditional, nautical-themed wood, to Gatsby-esque art deco in silver, white and black.
It’s no surprise, every need and desire can be catered for, including routes. There’s more demand for the Pacific and Croatia, but the Med has kept its stronghold on the market. Edmiston works with a global clientele; from offices around the world they plan itineraries from Singapore to Burma, Tahiti to the Caribbean, the Peruvian Amazon and beyond.
I know exactly which one I’d choose…The one with open air space that blends seamlessly with the interiors with simple, natural-looking, light furniture and the sea-facing gym. Life as a stowaway is starting to look pretty good.
