Update: Here’s what Twitch on Xbox One looks like in action:
Original Story: March 11th doesn’t only mark the arrival of Titanfall, one of 2014’s biggest games, but also the first day Xbox One gamers can begin streaming gameplay. Timely, isn’t it?
To make up for the delay–it was originally supposed to be be available on the Xbox One’s launch–, the Xbox One version of Twitch is packed with features. These include being able to watch streamers who are broadcasting on any platform, and even being able to join the party of someone you’re watching.
Below is the full list of features on Xbox One’s Twitch app:
- Instantly live broadcast your games by simply speaking “Xbox, Broadcast”, or launch from within the Twitch app for Xbox One.
- Position the webcam PIP in any corner of the screen to best fit your game.
- Interact with broadcasters using the most lines of chat available on a console.
- Your Xbox friends are notified when you go live.
- Get notifications when your favorite gamers are broadcasting so you never miss a minute.
- For Xbox One broadcasts, you can view the broadcaster’s Xbox Live profile and send them a party request and join their game.
- See which Xbox Live friends are broadcasting and what they’re broadcasting.
- Partake in the chat experience, including using your subscription-based emotes and chat badges.
- Turbo subscribers get an ad-free experience.
So why is the Xbox One version of Twitch so much better than PS4’s? Well, the PS4 version of Twitch which was developed in-house by Sony. It wanted to keep the experience simple and focus is around the PlayStation community. Meanwhile, the Xbox One version has been developed by Twitch itself. It’s essentially an extension of the software on PC optimized for Xbox gamers.
The Twitch app will hit the Xbox One Store on March 11th.
