Metal Gear Solid V was originally going to have an “80’s movie filter” befitting of the game’s 1984 setting, creator Hideo Kojima has revealed.
Referencing the 2013 film Rush, Kojima tweeted: “”RUSH” had very 70’s texture & tone of film. In fact we studied 80’s image & developed “80’s filter” for MGSV as TPP is placed in 1984.”
He continued: “But when we actually implemented full screen effect, it was too heavy that slowed the system down so we had to take it out.”
The prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, is set for release on March 18th in North America and March 20th in Europe. According to Hideo Kojima, Ground Zeroes can be completed in “a couple of hours”, which has caused a stir among fans of the series, along with his admission that the PS4 version of the game will “look slightly better on the PS4 compared to the Xbox One”.
