Worms Battlegrounds Announced for Xbox One and PS4

Team 17 is currently developing a new game called Worms Battleground. Arriving on Xbox One and PS4, it will be the first title in the franchise to release on next-gen hardware.

Microsoft has some news of its own as Worms Battleground will be the first ID@Xbox title. Furthermore, it will be self-published on Xbox One removing a lot of the hurdles involved in previously publishing independent titles on the Xbox platform.

The Worms series has been around since 1995, and has had more than a dozen releases during that time. The latest title, Worms: Clan Wars, released on PC during last Summer. Worms Revolution was the last time the franchise landed on consoles, and it was considered a treat for fans of local multiplayer.
