Lowering the Xbox One’s Digital Game Pricing is “on Microsoft’s Agenda”

Currently, the digital game pricing on both the Xbox One and PS4 leaves a lot to be desired. In most cases, games are being sold digitally on the consoles for either the same amount or more than they are valued at retail.

Considering that purchasing a game digitally doesn’t offer gamers the opportunity to either trade them in or place them proudly on their shelves, this is an issue that needs rectifying. Thankfully, according to the Xbox team’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, they’re looking into lowering the prices in the future.

In a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session, the following comment was posted by user lshawmcminn: “…it does feel like we are being punished for downloading digitally. I have been of the strong opinion that you guys are going to take care of this fairly soon. I know there are a lot of things high on the priority lists for X1 and I don’t mind that those things are taken care of first, but it should be on the agenda.”

Hryb succinctly responded: “Is is indeed on the agenda.”

Personally, I don’t see why this trend has carried over from the Xbox 360 and PS3 to the Xbox One and PS4. It defies logic to purchase a digital copy a game which is being sold at a higher price point than its physical copy. The sooner both Microsoft and Sony sort this issue out, the sooner I won’t feel enraged every time I scroll through the PSN’s Store and the Xbox Live Marketplace.
