Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has made quite the insincere apology after an offensive photo of him was posted onto his Twitter account.
The photo, which saw Clarkson asleep with a note next to his head that read “GAY C*NT”, was posted onto the BBC presenter’s Twitter along with the caption “Sadly, I fell asleep on the plane.”
Clarkson responded to the uproar surrounding the photo by deleting it, saying: “I have deleted my last tweet and would like to apologise profusely to anyone who I upset while I was asleep.”
Piers Morgan, who Clarkson has an intense rivalry with, took his opportunity to take the moral high-ground, tweeting: “Embracing homophobic slurs with your petrol-head mates @JeremyClarkson ? And you have the brass flabby neck to call ME a ****? Wow.”
This isn’t the first time Clarkson has caused offense in his career, though, as we previously highlighted here, when Clarkson had allegedly told former Labour spin doctor Alistair Campbell that his support of gay rights stretched to his “right not to be bummed”.
