Early in “Arrow” Season 2, the name Ra’s al Ghul was uttered in a truly jaw-dropping moment that established the iconic Batman villain within the world of the show. A few episodes later, a reference to Ra’s al Ghul’s child was also made, which at the time seemed to be a thinly veiled allusion to Talia al Ghul
But it turns out that the “Arrow” creative team has someone else in mind: Nyssa Raatko, Talia’s half-sister who had a brief stint in DC Comics as the leader of the League of Assassins. According to
TV Guide, Katrina Law will portray Nyssa al Ghul (who is apparently keeping the family name on this show) in the thirteenth episode of “Arrow” Season 2. Nyssa will come to Starling City looking for Black Canary, aka Sara Lance (Caity Lotz).
Law is best known for her two season stint on STARZ’s “Spartacus” TV series as well as her appearances in “Chuck,” “Legend of the Seeker” and “Third Watch.” Law’s casting does beg the question:do the producers of “Arrow” watch any TV shows other than “Spartacus?” Manu Bennett already stars as Slade Wilson and his former “Spartacus” love interest. Cynthia Addai-Robinson recently guest starred on “Arrow” as Amanda Waller.
Nyssa is such an obscure character that were few fans (if any) clamoring for her to make a reappearance in any medium. However, there is a popular theory that one of the actresses previously introduced this season is secretly Talia al Ghul. Nyssa’s introduction could potentially play into that, if the theory is true.
