‘Homeland’ Season 3 Episode 2 Preview Scenes

The creative team behind “Homeland” deserves credit for dealing head on with the erratic history of Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes). If Carrie wasn’t a fictional character, she would have been booted out of the CIA years ago.

During last Sunday’s episode, Carrie’s mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) appeared before the subcommittee led by the combative Senator Andrew Lockhart (Tracy Letts). To deflect blame from the CIA over the 12/12 terrorist bombing, Saul threw Carrie under the bus by exposing her mental health issues and her illicit affair with Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), the former congressman who is currently the target of a worldwide manhunt.

Unquestionably, Saul’s words were a huge betrayal of Carrie, but nothing he said about her wasn’t true.

Despite currently being off of her meds, Carrie is responding to her exposure in a calm and assured way. Okay, I’m lying. Apparently, Carrie’s response will be to run to the press. And in the first preview clip from Sunday’s new episode of “Homeland,” Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) makes it clear to Saul that Carrie needs to be silenced.

In the second preview clip, Carrie attempts to tell her story to a disbelieving reporter. But Carrie soon has much bigger problems to deal with.

And finally, Saul visits Carrie’s sister, Maggie (Amy Hargreaves) and their father, Frank Mathison (James Rebhorn) after Carrie has been taken. And although the Mathison family is very unhappy with Saul, he tells them just how much trouble Carrie has gotten into.
