‘Justified’ Season 5 Promotes Jere Burns

The fifth season premiere of “Justified” is roughly four months away, but Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) won’t be the only full time nemesis when the series returns.

Deadline is reporting that Jere Burns has been upped to series regular on “Justified” Season 5. Burns first appeared as the Dixie Mafia middleman, Wynn Duffy during the first season of “Justified” and he has made recurring guest appearances in every season that followed. At the end of the fourth season, Duffy was given a promotion in his criminal organization and he offered Boyd his old job.

Burns has had numerous roles as villains on “Hill Street Blues,” “Burn Notice” and more recently in “Bates Motel.” Burns also co-starred in the sitcom “Dear John” and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. On “Breaking Bad,” Burns played the group leader of Jesse’s Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Over at TVLine, a new report states that the Crowe crime family will be introduced this season and serve as the main antagonists for Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant). Originally introduced in the novels written by the late Elmore Leonard, the Crowe family is called a “white trash Florida-based… clan” that runs a gator farm as a front for their illicit criminal activities.

The report notes that we will meet the family patriarch, Dale; his daughter, Wendy and his “romantic sociopath” younger brother, Danny. Presumably the incarcerated Dewey Crowe (Dewey Crowe) will also be a member of that family.

The Crowe family was previously portrayed in Leonard’s short-lived TV series, “Maximum Bob.”
