BBC Unveils The Title & Poster For ‘Doctor Who’ 50th Anniversary Special

The seventh season of “Doctor Who” ended with the reveal of John Hurt’s mystery Doctor, an incarnation of the character that no one knew about. He is the Doctor’s greatest secret, but we’ll soon know more about him.

The “Doctor Who” 50th Anniversary Special will bring back David Tennant’s wildly popular Tenth Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler as they team up with Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor and Jenna-Louise Coleman’s Clara Oswald for a new adventure that will bring them face-to-face with Hurt’s Doctor, the Daleks and more!

Today, BBC has revealed that the 50th anniversary special will be called “Day of The Doctor” and released a new movie style poster for the 75-minute special that will be simulcast around the world on Saturday, November 23.

BBC America has not fully announced its lineup of “Doctor Who” programming to celebrate the anniversary. However, BBC itself has unveiled several “Doctor Who” related specials, including a science of “Doctor Who” program with Professor Brian Cox and a “Culture Show” special called “Me, You and Doctor Who.”

There is also a dramatized TV movie about the creation of “Doctor Who” from Mark Gatiss called An Adventure In Space and Time, with “Broadchurch” and “Game of Thrones” actor David Bradley starring as William Hartnell, the man who played the First Doctor. BBC will also show the first four episodes of “Doctor Who,” which have been restored for broadcast.

Presumably most of these “Doctor Who” projects will come to BBC America as well.
