Xbox One Specs Undergo Performance Improvement of Around 9%

Are you expecting PS4 exclusives to overpower the Xbox One in graphics? Not so fast.

Microsoft’s Yusef Mehdi shared during this week’s Citi Global Technology Conference that the Xbox One’s specs have undergone some improvements since last time we saw it. He said:

We’ve had real good progress on the system. In fact, we just updated the CPU performance to 1.75GHz on top of the graphics performance improvement, so the system is really going to shine…

Only days ago, Major Nelson announced that the Xbox One’s GPU had its clock speed boosted from 800MHz to 853MHz.

At the time of the Xbox One reveal the CPU was clocked at 1.60GHz. Since then, endless comparisons have been made between the Xbox One and what many consider to be superior PS4 hardware. With no improvements to the PS4 hardware, the Xbox One has closed the gap in computational power, especially now that its GPU has a slight advantage in clock speed.

Of course, these increases in clock speed will result in more heat being generated. Thankfully, the Xbox One has a sensor which dynamically adjusts fan speeds and can even reduce power usage in the event it gets dangerously hot.
