AMC Casts David Morrissey In ‘Line of Sight’

Last season on “The Walking Dead,” David Morrissey’s popular villain, The Governor lived to fight another day. And while Morrissey will return as a series regular for the fourth season of “The Walking Dead,” he already has next TV project lined up.

Deadline is reporting that Morrissey has landed the lead role in AMC’s upcoming sci-fi pilot, “Line of Sight.” Morrissey will portray Lewis Bernt, a NTSB investigator who lives through a harrowing plane crash before he goes on “an emotionally disorienting quest” to discover what caused the accident.

According to Deadline, Morrissey’s new role will not immediately have an affect on his “Walking Dead’ commitment and he will appear on both shows. In a statement, an AMC spokesperson said “We are huge fans of David Morrissey and are glad he’ll be doing double duty for AMC viewers through his work on ‘The Walking Dead’ and our pilot for ‘Line Of Sight,’ both of which are produced in Atlanta.”

If “Line of Sight” is ordered to series, Morrissey’s role on “The Walking Dead” could come to an end or he may be relegated to occasional appearances. “Low Winter Sun” star Lennie James has appeared twice on “The Walking Dead” as Morgan Jones, so the network has previously set a precedent for sharing its performers.

Prior to “The Walking Dead,” Morrissey appeared “Doctor Who” Chirstmas special “The Next Doctor” and he had roles in several feature films including Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, The Reaping, Basic Instinct 2, State of Play, Our Mutual Friend, Sense and Sensibility and Centurion.

Former “24” co-star Sarah Clarke was recently cast in “Line of Sight” as Morrissey’s onscreen wife, Dot Bernt. Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) is slated to direct the “Line of Sight” pilot episode.
