Arcade Fire Post Cryptic Instagram Clues About New Album

Arcade Fire are being their typically cryptic selves when it comes to details about their upcoming album, rumored to be called Reflektor. With an Oct. 29 release date announced nonchalantly on Twitter, as well as a similar approach to the band’s first live dates in three years (spanning Australia and New Zealand in early 2014), the Montreal indie outfit is now teasing something new… but nobody can be sure what it is.

Three cryptic Instagram photos were posted on Monday (see below), revealing the date September 9 and 9 p.m. Is it the arrival of a new single? A video? Whatever the case, the reveal will serve as a nice halfway point between now and the album release, as well as the Nov. 20 release of Spike Jonze’s new film, Her, which Arcade Fire scored.

Earlier this year former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy, who helped produce the new record, shed a little light on the new material to NME: “It sounds like Arcade Fire in the way that only Arcade Fire sound like Arcade Fire, you know? It’s really fucking epic. Seriously. I mean, I feel at this point like I’m too close to it to really talk it up and do it justice, you know?”
