Ronda Rousey has been kicking ass for years but it wasn’t until recently that the 26-year-old mixed-martial arts star began to take the sport by storm. After mowing through her StrikeForce opponents, Rousey became the first UFC female fighter and this past February earned the title of UFC bantamweight champion. But on Tuesday afternoon it was announced that Rousey was given a different title, as one of the sexiest women in the world according to Maxim Magazine.
One of the big draws for Rousey could be the California native’s sex appeal, and the popular men’s magazine simply confirmed what we have already known for a while now. Days after ranking in Business Insider’s “Top 50 Women Who Are Changing the World”, she appeared on the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s 15th Anniversary issue but neither are creating the same kind of buzz, for obvious reasons. Rousey announced being named No. 29 on Maxim’s list in typical fashion, by posting a provocative photo of herself from a Maxim photoshoot on her social media accounts.
It wasn’t the first time she’s appeared with little clothing on, however.
Last year Rousey was featured in ESPN The Magazine’s 2012 Body Issue, a yearly volume which features athletes posing nude in an artistic fashion. The decision to put her at 29 came from Maxim’s readers, who once again voted on the 2013 list. She joins a list that includes such celebrities as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Olivia Munn, and Demi Lovato – to name a few. The entire list has yet to be released, as the magazine only gave readers a small taste of what is to come.
The honor is just one more notch in Rousey’s belt, as she continues to take strides towards becoming the most well-known MMA fighter out there today. It’s only a matter of time before she’s a household name and we see her everywhere – and believe us, that’s not a bad thing!
