Percy Jackson Season 3 already renewed by Disney+
Disney+ has renewed the fantasy TV series Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Season 3. The show is based on the book series of the same name by author Rick Riordan. The first season was an adaptation of the first book, The Lightning Thief. Season 2 will reportedly adapt The Sea of Monsters, and the third season will be based on The Titan’s Curse. Riordan co-created the series with Jonathan E. Steinberg.
The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians proved to be a big success for Disney+ and it currently holds a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes after 65 reviews. The series has also already won several awards, including multiple Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, and it was the most-watched original series of 2024 on Disney+, per Luminate Data. (via Deadline)
The cast of Season 1 includes Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, and Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus / Mr. D. Further, Daniel Diemer has joined the cast of the show to play Percy’s half-brother Tyson in Season 2.
Adapting the source novels, the show tells the story of the titular Percy Jackson, who discovers he is a demigod and son of Poseidon. In Season 1 of the show, he and his friends embark on a journey to find Zeus’ missing Master Bolt. Production for the sophomore season reportedly wrapped earlier this year and it’s slated to premiere in December 2025.
Notably, Riordan revealed in a February 2025 post on Bluesky that they have received a go-ahead to start a writers’ room and plan scripts for the third season.
