Why SWAT Isn’t Airing a New Episode This Week

Viewers are curious to know why there’s no new episode of S.W.A.T. airing on March 21, 2025 on CBS. Episode 15, titled “Hostages,” was released on its respective time slot last week. However, the show now appears to be on a hiatus, leaving fans concerned about the sudden delay.

Developed by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and Shawn Ryan, the series focuses on Sergeant Daniel and his team safeguarding the city from dangerous criminals. With Episode 16 postponed, fans are eager to know its new premiere date.

So, here are the details.

Why there’s no new episode of SWAT on March 21

S.W.A.T. Season 8 Episode 16 will not air this week due to CBS coverage of March Madness.

Fans are concerned after learning that a new episode of S.W.A.T. won’t grace their screens this Friday at its usual time on CBS. Several shows’ release schedule is affected due to March Madness taking their place throughout this month and early April.

For the unversed, March Madness an NCAA Division I men’s basketball single-elimination tournament, which is generally conducted in mid-May in the US and lasts three weekends. A total of 68 college teams compete to earn the champions’ title. The tournament will officially end on April 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Episode 15 of S.W.A.T. Season 8, aired on March 14, focuses on the team’s sting operation going awry when felons held passengers at a bus stop captive. Meanwhile, Bennett tries her best to vacate Hicks’ commander position. As CBS would cover March Madness for the remaining month, fans will have to wait longer for a new S.W.A.T. episode to premiere.

When will SWAT’s next episode air?

S.W.A.T. is expected to return on April 4, 2025.

The next episode titled, “Hail Mary,” focuses on SWAT lieutenant Daniel Harrelson, who’s grappling with loyalties when he is assigned to lead a team in his hometown.

In the meantime, viewers can binge-watch past seasons and episodes of S.W.A.T. on Paramount +.
