In a recent discussion with Entertainment Tonight, Chelsea Handler acknowledged the speculations surrounding her and Ralph Fiennes, saying, “I saw that. I saw about 30,000 articles come through.” Nevertheless, she quickly explained the reality behind her much-discussed hand-in-hand exit with the English thespian from the Oscars party, noting, “Ralph Fiennes and I went from one party to another party with a group of people, and that’s all that happened.”
Handler then doubled down upon the platonic nature of her relationship with Fiennes, noting that the pair are not the right nuptial candidates for one another. “I don’t think Ralph Fiennes is marriage material, and I don’t think I’m marriage material,” she expressed. Additionally, the Chelsea Lately anchor reiterated the notion that her ideal partner need not be a celebrity.
The duo’s cheerful departure from the 2025 Oscars, which reinvigorated the public’s interest in their dynamics, isn’t the first time that Chelsea Handler and Ralph Fiennes have crossed paths. They recently shared the stage at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, performing a little skit based on a scene from the Halina Reijn-helmed Babygirl. Reimagining the milk-drinking scene from the movie, Handler took on the role originally played by Nicole Kidman, while Fiennes stepped into the shoes of Harris Dickinson’s character.
During her recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Handler declared that she “has never been interested in marriage.” She added, “I’m not interested in long-term commitments. To work, to people, to anything. I am a free spirit.” As such, her public statements about dating seem to align with her account regarding her relationship with Fiennes. On the other hand, the three-time Oscar nominee has yet to share any official word on the same.
